{"id":264,"date":"2025-04-04T07:21:30","date_gmt":"2025-04-04T07:21:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tibetgermany.de\/?p=264"},"modified":"2025-04-04T08:13:55","modified_gmt":"2025-04-04T08:13:55","slug":"us-announces-visa-sanctions-on-chinese-officials-for-role-in-denying-access-to-tibet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tibetgermany.de\/de\/us-announces-visa-sanctions-on-chinese-officials-for-role-in-denying-access-to-tibet\/","title":{"rendered":"US announces visa sanctions on Chinese officials for role in denying access to Tibet"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"> US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has on Mar 31 announced the imposition of additional visa restrictions on Chinese officials involved in policies on access for foreigners to Tibetan areas under Chinese rule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cFor far too long, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has refused to afford US diplomats, journalists, and other international observers access to the Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR) and other Tibetan areas of China, while China\u2019s diplomats and journalists enjoy broad access in the United States,\u201d Rubio has said in a statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, the statement did not name any Chinese officials and did not elaborate on the US measures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rubio has continued: \u201cUS diplomats are also unable to provide services to US citizens traveling in Tibet.
